In the first ever Rutland - Melton CiCLE Classic, Scott Gamble won his first ever Premier Calendar race after a break of around 24 riders went clear early in the race and was never caught. This was despite one of the break, Leigh Cowell, being called back by his team to chase down the leaders. The length and toughness of the course slowly wore the break down and in the sprint finish, Scott Gamble had one of his finest wins ever ahead of Benoit Lagorce. Organiser Colin Clewes says the event was praised by riders such as Matt Stephens and will endeavour to make it an annual event providing the funding for the race can be secured.
