British Cycling Mountain Bike Commission

 

The British Cycling Mountainbike Commission oversees the sport of Mountainbike racing in Britain and is co-ordinated by British Cycling's Mountainbike Competition administrator. The Commission addresses a wide variety of issues, including International, national and regional level competition, technical regulations, event standards, officials' training, development and the domestic calendar.

The Commission is made up of a number of individuals experienced in the running, officiating and development of Mountainbiking. Commission members are selected for their involvement in sport or are nominated by fellow commission members when a particular position becomes available.

Background  Paul has run 2 cycle hire centres in Thetford Forest and has also guided in the South of France and the Alps. He's also been a team manager for "Team Identiti DH and DS team", "Titus UK XC team" "Beyond XC team" and is now looking after "Salsa Factory Racing UK". He's currently the Promoter of the Marin Dusk til Dawn 12 hr night race and the Marin Winter Enduro Series

Background Kelvin originally started his involvement with MTB in his native New Zealand, where he raced preferring endurance events. Kelvin then moved into managing a local Bike Shop Team, before moving into race organisation, which Kevin developed and promoted for nearly 5 years. Kelvin then moved to the UK, met a Commissaire at a World Cup in Plymouth and got into the MTB scene here in the UK, which also included working on SAMS for a number of years.

Background  Racing MTB Downhill since 1995, Tracy is a multiple National and World Cup winner. She was Britain's first female Downhill World Cup Champion in 2006.

Background:  Ruth has been racing XC competitively since 2004 and been involved with many MTB events including the World Cup 2005-2007, World Champs 2007 and the Midlands XC race series 2006-7. Ruth has also been involved in creating a mountain bike event organiser's resource with British Cycling through a major study conducted for her undergraduate degree. She currently works as a Sports Development Officer at the University of Essex.

Background:  Chris has been organising XC, Duel, DH, and 4X races since 1997 and was Midlands DH Veteran Champion in 2005. He was the organiser of the Midland Super Series 1999 to 2006. A specialist in one-off events including indoor Snow Cross and Urban Downhill street racing, he has also been NPS 4X Series organiser since 2004.

Background  Tony started Mountain Biking whilst growing up in North-West Surrey. He first raced XC in 1999 whilst with the Warwick University MTB Club.
