We've just received this update (24 Feb) from the organisers of the Bontrager Twentyfour12 enduro and things look to be shaping up nicely for this event, which has carved out something of a niche for itself as something slightly different:
In the Probably the best quality 24 hour solo field anywhere in Britain will be assembled at this year's Bontrager Twentyfour12. The feedback about the 2008 event and the high reputation of the riding on offer at Newnham Park has caused the UK's finest to commit and they will be chasing the £1000 cash prize for first. The line up includes the 2008 winners of Twentyfour12, Mountain Mayhem and Sleepless in the Saddle, plus the current South Downs Way record holder
Solo entries include: Craig Bowles, Iain Payne, Ian Leitch , James Leavesley, Matt Page, Anthony White, Mike Cotty & Dave Buchanan
Solo entries for the 24 are now full with a long waiting list and solo 12s are just about to close but there is still space in all other categories from Torchbearer 12 solos through to 12 rider Just for Fun teams. At present the event overall is nearly 70% full of its' 425 rider on course capacity. Entries for the whole event are scheduled to top 1300 this year.
In other news about the event, Exposure Lights are continuing their support of the event and will again be staging the King and Queen of the Night in addition to providing 24 hour light charging support for any brand. Clif Bar will be supporting activities to further improve the green efforts started in 08, the Bikeshed will be on hand to provide 24 hour mechanical support and For Goodness Shakes are supporting 24 hour sports massage.
Plans for the course include a little lengthening, the addition of another section of singletrack to keep things fresh and a new section with a split option to keep things interesting. The 24 hour DJs are booked and we expect another random showing of our Midnight Jazz singer somewhere in the woods....and a few more surprises along the way.
With the support of Newnham Park the camp site will be open from Thursday July 23 until Monday July 27 so you can even make a little holiday of it in Sunny Devon!
