The whole mountain biking world seemed to descend upon a cold, wet, midge-infested corner of our islands and had a huge party on and around the best courses in the world: we were there to bring you all the action, plus reaction from the riders themselves. Day 1 (Tuesday September 4)

Report: Cross-Country Team Relay Day one saw the GB Team put in a strong performance in the Cross-Country relay, even leading for a short section of the four lap, four rider race.

Day 2 (Wednesday September 5)

Report: Junior & Under-23 Women Cross-Country Day two was the turn of the younger women Cross-Country riders with Annie Last, Annabel Simpson and Amy Hunt in action for GB.

Day 3 (Thursday September 6)

 

20070906_fort_william_mtb_worlds_day3_60Report: Junior Men Cross-Country for only the fourth time in the last 15 years, a GB rider picked up a medal in a Cross-Country event. Talented Junior rider David Fletcher was the star of the day.

Report: Downhill Qualifying It's the phoney war as far as medal wining is concerned, but at least the Brits had some morale-boosting rides as Rachel Atherton and Ruaridh Cunningham topped qualifying in their respective categories and 11 Brits recorded top ten placings.

Day 4 (Friday September 7)

 

20070907_fort_william_mtb_worlds_day4_60Report: Under-23 Men Cross-Country There were varying fortunes for the trio of Brits, Ian Bibby, Ian Field  and Ross Creber tackling this most competitive of events.

20070908_mtb_worlds_nick_craig_60Report: Elite Women & Men Cross-Country Two of the toughest, fastest races you're ever likely to see produced a successful defence of a World title by one rider and a first title for another. Amongst the British riders, there were some brave and determined performances.

We're got a report, images and results from a day of glory and heartbreak for the home riders.
