Round one on Saturday the 9th of December 2006: Indoor Dream in Sheffield

At last a chance to go ride somewhere dry and warm, well not that warm, it can often be freezing in there so pack your thermals.. What you are guaranteed is dry dirt which over the next 4 months is a dream come true. The extra bonus come home time? No need to clean the bike off with the hose/jet wash or clog up the kitchen sink on Sunday evening as "he/she" screams at you for making a mess.. Sound familiar?

With a newly revised track layout we had something new to learn which helps keep you on your toes with a fresh challenge, let alone the competitiveness of the racing. The berms are in the same place as before, it's each straight packed full of jumps that has had the full make over. Each jump is slightly bigger, deeper and better than the previous one, meaning riders were queing up in the long practise session to get themselves dialled.

Plenty of practise gates dropped with full hydraulics, lights and audio meant this was almost like a National with World and European Champions on track such as Shanaze Reade, Abbie Taylor, Lewis Hipkins and Julien Camellini.

Racing started prompt at 15:00 with every rider getting three moto's, each one packed six strong with different riders being swapped around each moto really mixed things up. Commentary was by Si Paton of www.Descent-Gear.com who kept the crowd informed and entertained with his Brummie accent.......if they understood him that is.

For those groups with the big numbers in them, we went to semi finals and then into the hotly contended finals for the points and glory of winning series prizes valued at over £3k from the main sponsor Dialled Bikes http://www.dialledbikes.com/ and co-sponsor Profile Europe http://www.profileeurope.co.uk/
