UCI team cyclist concludes personal injury claim

UCI cyclist gets compensation20 March 2006
British Cycling member Laura Bissell, who rides for the UK’s first International Cycling Union (UCI) Trade Team for women, Fat Birds UK (FBUK), has successfully concluded her claim for personal injury compensation arising out of a road traffic accident in December 2004.

Laura had been cycling along the A119 North Road when a third party motorist suddenly pulled out in front of her on the roundabout outside the Hertford North Railway Station. Laura was thrown violently from her bicycle on to the road.

As a result Laura sustained a number of painful soft-tissue injuries, including a cut to her left elbow, and bruising to her left leg, right knee and ankle. She also suffered from upper back pain and pain to her ribs. Thankfully, Laura’s injuries did resolve relatively quickly, however Laura was left with a small residual scar to her right elbow as a result of this accident.

Laura was represented by Anna Hart of Leigh Day & Co’s cycling and sports injuries team. Laura’s claim was supported and funded by British Cycling.
