Leigh Day Successfully Conclude Ramsay Claim
News Posted: 26 November 2007
British Cycling member, Andrew Ramsay, has successfully concluded his claim for personal injury compensation which arose from an accident that occurred whilst he was cycling along a cycle way adjacent to the A24 in Surrey.
The accident occurred as a motorist failed to note Andrew’s bicycle on the cycle path and attempted to turn left into a single carriage way country road from the A24 across the cycle path. The motorist collided with the rear of Andrew’s bicycle thereby causing injury to Andrew and damage to his bicycle.
Despite independent witness, evidence confirming liability rested wholly with the motorist, liability was strenuously disputed by the third party insurers.
Prior to the commencement of legal proceedings, the third party insurers finally agreed to deal with the issue of liability on a without prejudice basis and damages which had previously been agreed, subject to liability, were paid to Andrew on a 100% basis.
Andrew was represented by Anna Hart in Leigh Day & Co’s Cycling and Sports Injuries Team.
Andrew’s claim was supported and funded by British Cycling.
