British Cycling Member's Claim Successfully Resolved
July 2007
British Cycling member, Huw Salway, has successfully resolved his claim for compensation following a road traffic accident on 18th June 2005. Huw was knocked down by a motorist and was badly injured, suffering fractures to his arms.
Despite a criminal conviction against the motorist responsible for the collision, liability was initially contested. As a result, legal proceedings were initiated on Huw's his behalf, because of the failure of the motorist's insurers, Norwich Union, to make appropriate and prompt interim payments for medical treatment. This included surgery, which Huw urgently required to help his rehabilitation.
Now, with a successful claim behind him, thanks to British Cycling's legal team at Leigh Day & Co (Huw was represented by Sue Bence, Partner in the Cycling and Sports Injuries Team) Huw is well on the way to recovery and has been able to return to his passion of cycling.
