Successful Conclusion To Member's Personal Injury Claim
British Cycling member, Andy Blandshard, has successfully concluded his claim for personal injury compensation arising out of a road traffic accident, which occurred on 27 December 2005.
Andy's accident occurred at approximately 2.20pm on 27 December 2005 as he was cycling with a companion in single file towards the Bretton roundabout in West Yorkshire. A motorist who was travelling in the same direction had attempted to overtake Andy's bicycle and during the course of this manoevre clipped Andy's right elbow, knocking him to the ground.
As a result of this incident Andy, sustained a number of painful bruising and soft-tissue injuries to his body, which caused significant pain, discomfort and disruption to his life for a period of approximately 6 weeks. Despite what was obviously a frightening experience, we are pleased to confirm that Andy has since returned to competitive cycling.
Andy was represented by Anna Hart, Assistant to Sue Bence in Leigh Day & Co's Cycling and Sports Injuries Team. Andy's claim was supported and funded by British Cycling.
