Cheshire Cat Produces 800 Smiles

First kilotogo sportive for 2008 got underway yesterday with the Cheshire Cat in, you guessed it, rural Cheshire. And the combination of slick organisation, a great route and some fortuitous weather forecasting cock-ups resulted in smiles galore for more than 800 starters.
The event took cyclosportive riders through the fine scenery around Peckforton, Bunbury and Beeston and incorporated the killer climb of Mow Cop.
Geoff of Kilotogo reports that the five NEG (National Escort Group) riders did a great job of marshalling the route, including the replacement of 6 directional arrows nicked by local farmers! There was only one accident, but we're told that the lady in question was not badly hurt and that St John's Ambulance once again did a sterling job.
Somewhat inevitably, the 25% Mow Cop ensured that the Cat resulted in a few forced dismounts and comedy 'trying to walk up a 1 in 4 in cycling shoes' moments. Whether you walked or rode, we salute you all.
Due to an excellent job by RTS timing, results are now available by following this link: http://www.kilotogo.com/cat08results.htm and event photography is here: www.marathon-photos.com pretty soon.
Next event in Kilotogo's series is the brand new North Cornwall Tor, which takes place on 20 April. For more info go here: www.kilotogo.com
