Event Date: 27 July 2008

The Ryedale Rumble Sportive website is now open for entries. The Event features the options of on-line entry via Everyday Cycling or by postal entry.

The second edition of the North Yorkshire Event; according to organiser Bob Howden sees similar distances to last year. The ratio of climbs is also about the same, what's changed however is the positioning of the climbs within the three available routes. Rumble 1 and 2 over the long and middle distance now face the severe test of Boltby Bank early in the day. Last year's climbs of Blakey Bank and Rosedale Chimney Bank are retained but will now be faced with "more miles in the legs".

Though perhaps not of the same length as the three monument climbs there's a particularly nasty sting in the tail as riders approach the new finish via a steep hairpin climb.

RYEDALE_RUMBLE_200The Ryedale Rumble is the North York Moors based sister event to the White Rose Classic that uses the Yorkshire Dales as its focus. Both events are promoted by British Cycling Yorkshire Region. Proceeds from the events are ploughed back into the sport and in particular the development of the Region's ambitious Youth programme.

2008 also sees the Region promoting the National Men's and Women's Road Race Championships around similar North Yorkshire roads that are traditionally used for the Ryedale Grand Prix Premier Calendar Race.

Organiser of this event is Bob Howden again and he is offering an interesting way to be able to ride one of the country's top sportives for free.

An event such as a National Championship calls for a large group of volunteers for marshalling duties. Bob is therefore offering an incentive to BC members riding either the Ryedale Rumble or the White Rose Classic where they can gain cash back for each day marshalled at the championships. For either Saturday (Women's Championship) or Sunday (Men's Championship) of the 28th/29th June.

Bob is offering a refund of £10.00 per day for marshalling. Take in both days and he will refund the full £25.00 entry fee for the nominated sportive. This is he says "A unique opportunity to ride one of the country's best sportives and to be close up to the action at the National Championships - all for nothing!"

With this offer the number of volunteers will be limited and so early entry by BC members is recommended. Please remember to tick the volunteer box on the entry form. You will be contacted by Ian Holmes Chief Marshal for the Nationals.
