Day 5 (Tuesday 19th August)
Those in GB who were still around at the end of racing gathered for a team picture and here they are, Jan van Eijden, Luc de Wilde, Ernie Feargreive, Scott Gardner, Matt Parker, Iain Dyer, Steve Peters, Jamie Staff (Gold), Shane Sutton, Dave Brailsford, Doug Dailey, Gavin King, Ross Edgar (Silver) and Mark Ingham. Just a small part of the GB Cycling Team. There are many more in Beijing and back at the headquarters in Manchester who all deserve a slice of the Golden pie won by the GB Team in Beijing -- it was a Team effort and how!
Double Gold for Great Britain on the final day of the track cycling and a Silver medal as well to make this team the most successful ever in track cycling -- congratulations to them as I am sure they have brought many many happy memories to everyone here in the UK and beyond.
Triple Gold for Chris Hoy -- what an amazing feat! Thank you Chris for some wonderful memories!
Scotland's Chris Hoy completed a hat-trick of Gold medals at Beijing 2008 with a stunning victory over team-mate Jason Kenny in tonight’s (Tuesday) Sprint final at the velodrome. It takes Hoy’s Olympic medal tally to five medals that includes four Golds and a Silver, from three Games (Sydney, Athens and Beijing). He becomes the first Briton to win three golds at one Olympiad since Henry Taylor, who won three golds in London in 1908. Report and Photos
Women's Sprint: World Sprint champion Victoria Pendleton added an Olympic gold medal to her impressive collection by winning the Women’s sprint competition at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on Tuesday (August 19). Report and Photos
Men's Madison: Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins went out in this event for Great Britain and although there were flurrishes of brilliance from them, they were marked out of the race and were unable to repat the success for Manchester 2008. Report and Results

What a Team!
After the Track Worlds back in March, it was easy to think that the Brits were going to dominate the Olympics but you have to be cautious some times and I really felt the other nations would step up and challenge us. So far, that has not happened although I do expect some really tough battles in the Sprint, Mens and Womens.
But so far, the medal table is a British medal fest and its easy to see what they are having for breakfast back there in the Olympic Village -- Gold, Silver and Bronze.
The table so far is: 8 Gold, 4 Silver and Two Bronze, 14 in all.
