2009 European Cross-Country Championships - GB Selection Criteria

The European Cross Country Mountain Bike Championships take place this year in Zoetermeer, Netherlands from 9th to 12th July.

A Great Britain representative team will be competing in the European Championships. There are events in the categories of Junior men, Junior women, U23 men and U23 women, Elite men and Elite women as well as a Team Relay.

This year selection for a Great Britain team for the European Championships is driven by both the need to provide young developing riders with exposure to competition at a Major Area Championships alongside a need to utilise UCI point scoring opportunities in the elite and U23 categories in order to enhance Great Britain's opportunity of qualifying nation places for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Selection for the European Championships will be made by selection panel after the 1st June on a discretionary basis taking into consideration a rider's age, experience, international and domestic results and UCI ranking in the period 1st March to 31st May.
