Talent Team Training Day at Mallory

Story posted July 4

Olympic Talent Programme Road Training Day.

Mallory Park, Tuesday 22nd July 2008

Following the success of the Coaching days held at Mallory Park in 2007, the Olympic Talent Programme is staging another training day for male and female youth riders and female juniors at the beginning of the summer break. Mallory Park Motor Racing Circuit in Leicestershire is again the venue and will host a day of skill and racing based coaching.

The Talent Team would like to offer an open invitation to youth A, B & C category riders (youngsters born between 1992 and 1997) to take part in the full day of coached activities.  We would also like to show our support to junior girls by opening up the invitation to this category as we see this as an area of cycling that needs further and continued development.  All abilities are welcome but as the day shall offer structured, road / circuit race based coaching sessions tailored to suit the different age’s, riders must be on a road bike (or cyclo cross bikes equipped with road tyres) with the correct gear restriction for their racing category. Please note MTB’s are not suitable for this session

The day is designed simply to give riders the chance to experience a group coaching session and learn or refine some road racing skills.  This is not a talent team selection event.  The day will get underway at 10.30am, and will incorporate a variety of skills and race based activities and come expecting to get stuck into some race events.  The training will end at 5pm. As with the days in 2007, the Talent Programme is covering all of the running costs, so the day is again completely free of charge!

If you are interested in attending, please register by Wednesday 16th July by sending an email to:  AlisonJohnson@britishcycling.org.uk with the name of the rider, their date of birth and their club.  You will then be sent further details of the day together with a parental consent form that must be completed and brought with you on the day for you to take part.

British cycling qualified coaches looking to expand their coaching experience are also welcome to attend to observe the sessions.  Please send an email to register as above.

Come on guys lets have it!!
