GB Team's Talent Team strand looking for riders born 1993 to join programme
The GB Cycling Team's Olympic Programmes are once again looking for new riders to join the BMX Olympic Talent Programme. We previously recruited successfully in 2006, and currently have 14 riders up to the age of 16 on the BMX Talent Team. We are now looking for a new cohort of riders to join the existing group.
If you are ambitious for success in BMX, were born in 1993 (14 this year) and you think you have what it takes to make it to the Olympic podium in 2012, this could be your chance. British Cycling's Olympic Talent Programme would like to hear from you.
What does the Talent Team offer?
The Olympic Talent Programme is regionally based for both coaches and riders - so you won't have to travel vast distances! The Talent Team has some of the most enthusiastic, inspirational coaches in the country. They have the experience to identify where young riders need to improve and the skills to drill them in these areas.
The Talent Team is able to access long periods of training time at cycling facilities for skills training. It is also able to provide access to equipment and guidance on competition. As a member of the Talent Team, you will have access, via your talent team coach, to experts in sports medicine, nutrition, equipment and, most importantly, coaches who work with the senior programmes.
Talent Team coaches know exactly what the coaches in the older age group programmes are looking for from a young rider. They also know how to assist a rider in gaining the skills & fitness required to compete for a place in the next step to the Olympic podium.
In the past, Talent Team BMX riders have usually already been involved with sport of BMX. However, we are keen not to miss any medal prospects already committed to and enjoying cycling, so if you think you've got what it takes, get in touch.
How to Apply to join the BMX Talent Team
If you are 14 years old this year (born 1993) and interested in applying for membership of the BMX Talent Team, please download a copy of the application form and return this to Alison Johnson

Deadline: Applications should be returned by 16th February 2007.
Note: As well as the application form, there is also a parental consent form which needs to be completed. Successful applicants will be invited to selection camps in March / April. Should you be successful in gaining an invite to the camp, there will also be an opportunity for your parents/guardians to find out a bit more about what is involved.
