UCI Track World Cup - Copenhagen
Round 4, February 15-17, 2008
For the riders in the Great Britain Cycling team, the UCI World Track Cup in Copenhagen (Denmark) is one more hurdle for them to get over before the final phase leading to the UCI World Track Championships in Manchester (March 26-31).
Success so far for GB has been good but the team know they cannot rest on their laurels and that in order to try and ensure they are on track to meet their Medal targets for Beijing, they need to ensure they have riders on the start line at the Olympics and that means giving their all at the World Cup events.
British Cycling will present results from the events in Copenhagen as well as exclusive photos from Gerry McManus (www.gerrymcmanus.co.uk ) over the three days. You will also find below links to the many pre-World Cup features we have exclusively presented on the website over the past two weeks.

Day 2 saw more Gold for Great Britain -- lots of it with no less than three Gold medals. The Team Pursuit won Gold in a ride where they just failed to go under the 4 minute barrier. It was a five man effort with Chris Newton riding the first round and then youngster Steven Burke coming in for Chris in the final. In the Women's Team Sprint, Victoria Pendleton and Shanaze Reade were the only team to go under 34 seconds to win that Gold medal and Chris Hoy -- awesome as always, won Gold in that event and is World Cup Champion for the Keirin.

Day 3 saw GB win a medal thanks to Chris Hoy in the Sprint event when the Scot finished second in the final of that event and Jason Kenny was an excellent 5th. In the other events, British riders were 7th and 10th in the Men's Madison whilst in the Women's Keirin Victoria Pendleton was 5th and Anna Blyth 7th. In The Japanese Keirin (non-World Cup), Chris Hoy managed to get through the endurance test with his first loss in a Keirin for a long time when he was 7th just ahead of fellow British rider Ross Edgar.
