Darren Kenny on the start in the 3000m Pursuit final
Day one saw a relatively quiet start to the week-long Disability World championships with qualifying rounds in the Pursuit supporting the official opening ceremony. The GB Team had two riders on the track, Gary Williams and Simon Richardson, with both producing personal bests, although it was Aussie Michael Gallagher who really set the stadium alight with an awesome performance. We've got a report and images: Disability Worlds Day 1
Day two of the Championships got underway with the LC1 Women's 500 metre time trial in which Britain's Sarah Bailey was riding. She still produced an excellent time, but had to give best to two amazing rides by Chinese riders. The action then turned to the CP3 Kilometre Time Trial, where Darren Kenny and Rik Waddon produced a stunning 1-2 for the GB team, plus a world record. Things then got even better for GB as the tandem pairings of McGlynn and Hunter and Storey and Kappes both struck gold in the Kilo - but not without producing some outstanding rides under pressure: Disability Worlds Day 2
Day three of the Championships saw two of the GB Team's big hitters in action with both Darren Kenny and Jody Cundy turning in world class rides as they dominated the Pursuit and Kilo respectively. Two more gold medals was the bottom line, but the quality of the performances went much deeper and in Jody's case, there was a new World Record to celebrate, despite a heavy cold Disability Worlds Day 3

There was champagne on the menu at the GB table this evening when the Paralympic athletes in the Great Britain Cycling Team left their best to the final day of the track competition when they blew their opposition away. With four Gold, they went from second in the Medal table behind the Australians who had a bigger team to top with four Gold medals, matching what they did last year on road and track with the road still to come. Disability Worlds, Day 4
| It was another Golden day for Great Britain in France at the Disability World Championships as the team took to the road for the Time Trials. Rachel Morris was the victor for GB on a day which started sunny but by the end, the athletes were having to deal with heavy rain. Day 5, TTs, Disablity Worlds | | A roasting hot day 2 of the Time Trials at the World Disability Championships in France saw two Great Britain riders win medals, one a Gold to David Stone on his Trike and a Bronze for Darren Kenny. | A very mixed day for the Paralympic athletes in the Great Britain Cycling Team with a Gold medal for Rachel Morris and a broken collarbone for Simon Richardson. Double-Gold medalist Rachel Morris said of her success -- “Its been so exciting racing here, really wicked. It’s been cool being part of the team as well and doing things together as a team.” Day 7, RR's, Disablity Worlds | In searing heat, the British riders at the road races for the World Disability Championships helped to maintain GB’s number 1 position in the table with a Gold and Bronze medal on the final day. David Stone again triumphed in the Trikes whilst Darren Kenny was unable to stop the two Spanish from again escaping his clutches and he had to settle for bronze. Day 8, Disablity Worlds | |
