Awesome! That’s the only word to describe the athletes wearing the Great Britain colours today when they went out and blitzed the other nations with no less than four Gold, two Silver and  Bronze medal for one of the most successful days ever at these championships.

 

First to strike Gold was Alex Greenfield who won the Junior Women Points title. Then in the evening there were three more Golds for Jess Varnish (Junior Women’s Keirin), David Daniell (Junior Men’s Sprint) and Jonny Bellis (Under 23 Mens Scratch Race).

 

As well as those title winning rides, there were Silver medals for Lizzie Armitstead (Under 23 Women’s Points Race) and Peter Kennaugh (Junior Men’s Scratch race) whilst Jason Kenny (Under 23 Men's Sprint)  took the prized scalp of Maximilian Levy of Germany to win the Bronze medal in that competition in his first year of trying.
