Some of the Great Britain Cycling Team Junior riders and staff at the track on Day 5 represent GB on the podium as they were presented to the crowd after topping the Best Nation Table for Junior riders. It is the second year in a row they have achieved this. GB was second in the Under 23 competition.

There were more medals and the Best Nation Trophy for our Juniors on the final day of competition at the European Track Championships in Cottbus today.
Lizzie Amitstead and Katie Curtis combined perfectly to win Lizzie the European Under 23 Women's Scratch race title while Anna Blyth was her brilliant self in winning the Women's Keirin. There was also Silver for Matthew Crampton and Christian Lyte and a Bronze for David Daniell plus second place in the Best Nation table for Under 23 riders. Read more >>>

Awesome! That’s the only word to describe the athletes wearing the Great Britain colours today when they went out and blitzed the other nations with no less than four Gold, two Silver and Bronze medal for one of the most successful days ever at these championships.
First to strike Gold was Alex Greenfield who won the Junior Women Points title. Then in the evening there were three more Golds for Jess Varnish (Junior Women’s Keirin), David Daniell (Junior Men’s Sprint) and Jonny Bellis (Under 23 Mens Scratch Race).
As well as those title winning rides, there were Silver medals for Lizzie Armitstead (Under 23 Women’s Points Race) and Peter Kennaugh (Junior Men’s Scratch race) whilst Jason Kenny (Under 23 Mens Sprint) took the prized scalp of Maximilian Levy of Germany to win the Bronze medal in that competition in his first year of trying. Great Britain's Under 23 Team Pursuit riders blitzed their rivals in dominant fashion to win GOLD tonight whilst first year junior Jess Varnish won her first European Championship medal after taking Silver in the Junior Women's 500m Time Trial.
In other to be completed events, Great Britain's David Daniell and Jason Kenny moved closer to the medals in the Sprint competition for Junior and Under 23 Men. Read More >>>

Day 2 of the European Track Championships in Cottbus (Germany) saw two medals for the Great Britain Cycling Team. Hannah Mayho won a Silver medal in the Junior Women’s Pursuit and the Matt Crampton, Jason Kenny and Christian Lyte won a Bronze medal in the Under 23 men’s Team Sprint.
In other events, Jess Varnish was fourth in the Junior Women's Sprint whilst Peter Mitchell (8th) and Tom Buck (10th) rode excellent races in the Junior Men's Kilometre. Anna Blyth (7th) finished her Under 23 Women's Sprint competition off with a win in the 7-12 race with Lucy Ayres in 11th.
In the morning session, in the Junior Men’s Pursuit, Luke Rowe and Andy Fenn finished 11th and 17th respectively. Finally, Steven Burke was presented with his bronze medal in the Under 23 Men's Pursuit during the evening session. Read More >>>

Day 1 of the European Track Championships saw the Great Britain Cycling team win one Gold, one Silver and one Bronze medal to cap off a mixed day. The Gold medal came in the Junior Team Pursuit where the GB team had to fight off a determined challenge from the French to win that event. The Silver medal came in the Junior Team Sprint when they narrowly went down to the French in the final whilst the Bronze medal was won by Steven Burke who was the fastest loser in the Semi Finals and takes the bronze medal without having to do another ride. Jessica Varnish is through to the final for Bronze in the Women's Sprint. Read More >>>
