Let The GB Team Know What You Thought of their Performance
We've already had many emails asking us to pass on congratulations to the GB Team following their record-breaking performance in the World Track Championships - why not send us your messages and we'll post them here and, more importantly, make sure the Team themselves get to see them.
Simply email pressoffice@britishcycling.org.uk and we'll do the rest!
The Messages (on behalf of the team, many thanks to all of you!)

I've just returned from Majorca and I'd like to say thanks to the riders and support staff for making my training camp. I spent the first week horse from shouting and signing the anthem. There were so many highlights, the team sprint where you could tell the result but the one that will stick in the mind will be the kilo. I told the German next to me Chris would do a 0 and he didn't disappoint! You are all a credit to yourselves and us all and roll on next year.

Guys and Gals, You were really great!! What a performance by all the team, we are all cheering you all the way. Craig, all the guys from Inverness are right behind you.

g'day to all the girls and guys at british cycling,
what a magnificent performance by everyone involved with the track team at majorca, from the athletes themselves to the coaches to the backroom staff. being an aussie i had high hopes for our team but apart from anna and katherine we were outclassed in every event.
your team pursuiters were amazing, 3.57!! we'd better get the good guys back for beijing if we're to have any chance of defending the gold. brads individual qualification and final was for me the best performance of the championships, 5 seconds faster is phenomenal and catching bartko reminded me if the barcelona olympics with chris boardman. victoria's 3 golds are just reward for being the foremost womans sprinter in the world, and as for shanaze - WOW!! 2nd international meet and she gets a rainbow jersey, she must be thinking how good is this.
i have no doubt that mr hoy will break the world record in bolivia in may, i saw the highlights of his kilo and boy did he look good.
as much as we like to beat you guys in any sport (cricket anyone?) i admit i was gutted by the results of the team sprint, 2/1000ths!!!! but what a race it was.
my coach over here is english and we always talk about the details of the racing, i guess he's got bragging rights until beijing.
congratulations once again and keep up the fantastic work of producing the best track riders in the world.

what a fantastic achievement by the whole team, riders ,mechanics, coaches, it does make you proud to be british and a cyclist, non cycling friends and colleagues have been talking about the excitement and thrill of the championships, you guys have won over a new following, thanks for all your efforts enjoy the moment (and all the medals)

To everyone on the GB team at the World Champs in Palma I would like to extend my congratulations. It's wonderful to see the team have such strength and depth - the support team are obviously doing a wonderful job.
I especially congratulate Victoria for her successes - I was a member of Mildenhall CC and it's heart warming to see her grow from National Grass Track Champion to World Champion! She's a credit to the sport and I'm looking forward to seeing Olympic gold medals around her neck.

I saw them at the Manchester World Cup but to produce the performances at the World Champs was absolutely awesome and an inspiration to us all. Very emotional - especially Vicky's win in the Keirin.
Andrew Hooke___________________________________________
Well done to every one - absolutely fantastic.
A special big thanks too Vicky Pendleton, she is now the hero of my 5 year old daughter who until watching Vicky over the weekend would not let me watch any cycling in piece.
She now calls her Vicky Pedalfast and sat with her Dad watching without a single 'can I have my telly on' comment.___________________________________________
Sending Congratulations to each and everyone of the team, the racing over the last few days has kept us glued to the television and was truly inspirational and thoroughly exciting, nail biting at times and emotional at others. Amazing performance and dominance from Chris and Victoria but Ross Edgar also has to get a mention for coming through a gap that just wasn't there to claim the bronze in the Kieran!
Well done to all, just a bit sorry now it's finished.

My brothers and I have just returned from Majorca where we were for the World Championships. 4 great days of cycling and of course a fantastic performance from Team GB. It?s looking good for next year in Manchester and of course the Olympics.

A Fantastic performance by the whole team.
The "new" riders, on their first venture with the team, did not disgrace themselves and the "stars" shone even brighter have could have been expected.
The backup people have all worked hard over many years, giving the riders what was necessary to perform at their best.
My heartiest congratulations to them all
Rod Scott

A big well done to all of you. We have been coming to watch the Revoultion meetings over the last few years, and were at the World Cup in Feb, so what happened last week was not such a great surprise, but watching it on telly was just fantastic. Hopefully we will be there next year in Manchester to see everyone perform on home soil. So well done to everyone involved with the team, keep up the hard work because you're making a lot of fans very happy. You should be up for Sports Personalities and Team Awards on the BBC in December, you've got our vote
Best wishes

Many congratulations to Riders, Support, and Management on the fantastic performance in Palma.
It was an absolute joy to watch. The total medal haul was just incredible but, for me, the performances themselves were just superb to watch. A highly emotional weekend indeed and the icing on the cake is how well riders conduct themselves - polite, articulate, and down-to-earth. Altogether an absolutely model Team.
Thank You All

What can you say that no one has not said before!
Well done to all the riders on a superb 2007 World Championships 10 years ago we would have been happy with 2 golds not 7!! The whole team, support crew, mechanics, coaches and riders looked so professional, well organised and good ambassadors for the sport both in winning and in defeat. It is a credit to you all.
I have never seen so many papers with cycling across the back pages since Chris Boardman won on 'that special bike' back in 1992.Chris Hoy you owe me a packet of throat lozenges for loosing my voice shouting at the TV in the Keirin!!! and Vicky a box of tissues for your third medal.
Seriously, Very well done like I said it makes you 'Proud to be British' with that performance.
Can't wait for the Olympics!
Julie Benham

To Dave Brailsford and his staff:- We are overwhelmed by the success achieved by the British Team at the Worlds, much of which can be be attributed to the skill and dedication of you and your team as expressed by Bradley Wiggins in his trackside interview. Please pass on our warmest congratulations to the team for the great riding and particularly Bradley Wiggins who started his track racing career at Reading Velodrome and Vicky Pendleton who won her first keirin title on the same Velodrome last year. Good wishes all round
from Shelagh & John Dennis, Reading Velodrome Racing

Hearty congratulations to all the competitors and the whole support team for the exceptional success.
The TV coverage brought the excitement and superb riding of our team to evryone's attention, and non-cycling colleagues at work were even talking about it.
Very well done to all concerned.

My proudest moment in 40 years of following the sport. The entire team, riders and support, were just awsome.
Chris Kirk___________________________________________
What a fantastic show of talent and sportsmanship. The GB sprint team were just out of this world, the selectors certainly knew the best 3 to send!!
The performance of young Ross Edgar could be classed as unbelievable, except to those who have been following the progress of this exceptional young man from the early years, waiting for the recognition of his talent to be accepted. The coaches and support staff have done a wonderful job of acknowledging his ability and giving him the chance to prove his ability, the keiron semi final was one that will be stamped in the memory of everyone for a long time to come, SUPERB!
The whole team must be very proud of the results, proving just how good this GB team is and a force to be reckoned with.
Congratulations to everyone, to those who won medals and to those, who on this occasion did not, because they, especially must remember, that if they were not world class athletes, then they would not have been at the finals at all
Well done everyone
Harry___________________________________________
I don't think anyone in any sport has ever seen a team dominate a World Championships in such a way as this before. Phenomenal, what a performance! The riders and support staff have taken sporting excellence to a new level and if we can remain humble (and with someone like David Brailsford in charge I'm sure we will), the Olympics should be fantastic!
And despite all the medals and all the rainbow jerseys, the most touching moment for me was the reaction of the sprinters after losing in the team sprint by such a small margin. No arrogance or petulance, no blaming or excuses, just sheer good sportsmanship and absolute respect for the French team. The whole team is an example to us all.
Thanks

Just to say well done to the British team and in particular Vicky Pendleton on winning all those medals.
I met her once when I used to work at the National Blood service in Manchester city centre at an event (a fews ago now) and she was dead friendly and chatted away and came across really well, so it couldn't have happened to a nicer person.
Once again, well done!!
Phil McNamara
I was captivated from the opening day which was summed up by being annoyed that we came 2nd in the Men's Team Sprint. Yes, annoyed that we got a silver medal! A true indication of how far everybody, not just the riders, have taken the sport of cycling. For me it's not about track vs road, it's about cycling and all of the performances over the Championships were inspiring to those interested in cycling and some who weren't. I've been banging on at non-cycling people to watch the World Championships and we've got a few new converts already. All I can say is Well Done! and good luck for Beijing. You all deserve this success.

As a British Cycling member for over 25 years it brought a lump to the throat to see our riders beating the world. The days when we went to world championships with hopes of a single bronze are history! Our riders are wonderful role models - without exception when interviewed they were polite, professional and confident and are a credit to British Cycling and all the backroom staff who made it possible.

What an absolute joy it was to see our trackcyclists doing so well at the world champs this weekend. The level and depth of talent was wonderful to see and the team organisation was obviously brilliant. It's about time that other sports followed cycling's lead and organised themselves properly and achieved some success. What was also very refreshing was how pleasant and unpretentious our athletes were. Again there is something for other sports to learn there too. Our little group of mountain bikers organised our ride yesterday to take in watching some of the Tour of the Reservoir and that was a good experience too. So thanks for a great weekend and keep up the good work.

Other messages have already said it all. A superb team achievement. Congratulations to all concerned - to the riders, to whoever empties the waste bins at the end of each day. If I have to mention an individual it has to be Shanaze Reade's joint gold. Well known in BMX but competing in her first Senior World Championships. Phenominal!!!! My message to the media - you just have to get more involved with cycling, on a regular basis. GB cyclists are world class performers in a major sport.

Outstanding performances by all the team at the weekend, it was a joy to watch. Congratulations go not just to all the medal winners and and new World Champions who all rode superbly, but to the whole team including coaches and support staff. I know from first hand experiences how hard they all work and how dedicated they all are to achieving success. As official nutrition sponsor to the GB Team everyone at Science in Sport is extremely pleased with these successes and we look forward to continue working with the support staff and riders in the build up to Beijing and the Worlds in Manchester which come first next year.

A sporting achievement without equal, the greatest team ever assembled in this country and set to attain more in 2008. I thought that Manchester in February could not be bettered but with such a wealth of talent still to be developed you are are all a credit to the country and the sport. It's wonderful to see press coverage that is not drug and scandal inspire, you are shining examples of the very best that this country has ever produced, not only as sports men and women but as people.
Thank you

Without a doubt the best world championships I have ever seen. I cant tell you how good it is to see riders like Chris, Craig and Vicky who I have seen rising throught the ranks for years reach this peak and with the young talent coming along behind them bring on Bejing and London! Must give a special mention to Vicky Pendleton-female sports personality of the year 2007?-me and my wife were both in tears at the third gold. I told you you had talent! Im sure max is a very proud Dad to tonbight.
Well done to all

Hi....Please pass this onto the whole of the GB team. (riders, coaches, mechanics, managers etc). The last few days were phenomenal. They are a real inspiration to all the young kids coming into the sport today. It is clear they are the team to beat and my children have been mesmerised by the performances and my youngest is only 7 !!
Congrats to everyone at BC

To all in Team GB
Many many congratulations to all the competitors and staff who made these world championships such a spectacle and joy to watch. We understand that as much as each competitors performance highlights their personal achievements and reaps the limelight, there is a whole host of staff who coordinate, mentor, coach, and support in all other ways. We salute you all on Team GBs success over the last few days.
As well as the medal success it is especially rewarding to see how you all conduct yourselves professionally on and off the track. With so much media coverage of bad behaviour in other sports it is even more satisfying to know that you are all completely focused and commited representing your sport and country. You should all be immensley proud of this too. You are true examples of sportsmen.
Over the last few days we are all very proud to be British and even prouder to be cyclists.
Although we do not wish to single out any 1 rider we would like to congratulate Victoria Pendleton on her phenomanal achievement. Victoria you are an inspiration to all athletes and to all us female cyclists who aspire to your achievements and ability. You are always very generous of your time and encouraging. My youngest son and I have met you on a couple of occasions and he always wants to have a photo with you and you are always so obliging. We hope to meet you again soon and perhaps will catch you and Ross at Welwyn one day. Well done Johnny Bellis and Anna Blythe.
Team GB chapeau
Dawn, Martin, Samuel and Joseph Fry___________________________________________
Please pass on my personal congratulations to all the riders who represented Great Britain over the course of these championships. While it is perhaps unfair on the rest to single out one performer I feel that I must especially congratulate Victoria Pendleton for the most imperious performance I have ever witnessed, never have I seen a rider destroy world class fields in the way Vicki did in Mallorca.
How much preparation, training and practice have gone into the last four days, not only the brilliant performances of the riders, but also by the coaches, mechanics, and all the back room staff. Also let's not forget the vision and single mindedness of British Cycling, who over the years have taken so much flak by cyclists in this country for concentrating on the track, when many would have wished for more emphasis on road racing.
The superlatives will flow from more eloquent than I, but I just want all the team to know how immensely proud and privileged I feel to have seen the events of the last four days.

To everyone concerned, What a wonderful few days in Mallorca. Absolutely amazing!! I watched the BBC coverage intently on tv today, but you deserved more exposure on the first few days. To win 7 Gold medals is incredible, 11 medals in total, and it could even have been 8 Golds, if we hadn't been pipped on the line in the Men's Sprint. Has anyone ever been as succesful as us in a single chapionships before? I doubt it.
All of you are a credit to your sport and to your credit and along with other sports such as Sailing, Rowing and Equastrianism, it's gret to see that we, 'Team GB' lead the world in several Olympic disciplines. You consistently bring home 'the bacon'. Long may that continue through to next years World Championships, on home soil, in Manchester and then onto the 'big one' in Beijing and beyond, all the way to the London Olympics in 2012.
You have set an incredible benchmark for others to emulate and follow and others in this country will be very keen to take up cycling as a sport.
Congratulations to you all. You deserve it!!!
Best Wishes.
