ROAD RACE DAY 2
Great Britain finished the championships as it started, with Gold thanks to David Stone (CP2 Trike) whilst there were two Silver medals, one to Sarah Bailey (LC1 Women) and the other to Darren Kenny (CP3 Men). The other Great Britain rider racing on the day was Rik Waddon in the CP4 event but a fall in that wrecked his hopes of a medal. : >Report & Photos
ROAD RACE DAY 1
Bronze For Bristow in LC1 Road Race -- in atrocious conditions today in Aigle (Switzerland), US based Great Britain rider, Mark Bristow fought hard in the physical battle that comes with sprinting at the end of a road race, and finished 3rd, his second Bronze medal of the Championships. The other British rider in the race, Gary Rosbotham-Williams finished in the bunch after doing his best to get away in any break going and then when caught, leaving the sprint to his teammate. : >Report and Photos
ROAD TIME TRIALS DAY 2
Day 2 of the Road Time Trials saw Great Britain win three medals from three events including a World Title for David Stone in the CP2 category for trikes. It was yet another indicator of how World Class this small team of riders is as they ready themselves for the final events of the Championships, the Road Races on Sunday and Monday. >Report & Photos
ROAD TIME TRIALS DAY 1
Today saw the start of the road programme for the UCI Disability World Cycling Championships with the opening events being Time Trials. Held on narrow, bike lane type roads in the shadow of the towering mountains that surround the town of Aigle, the course saw the riders do laps of a rectangular circuit with the start and finish off the course. Great Britain's lone starter today was Gary Rosbotham-Williams in the LC1 category. >Report & photos
TRACK DAY 3
Top of the World! At the end of the Track part of the UCI Disability World Cycling Championships, Great Britain was in its rightful place at the top of the table despite a body blow to the Team Sprint riders by a commissaire. Despite being two seconds faster than the next nation, the GB team for the second year running were DQ'd which put a dampener on what was a successful day with a Gold to the Tandem of Barney Storey and Anthony Kappes and a Bronze for Sarah Bailey. >Report/Photos
TRACK DAY 2
At the end of Day 2 of the UCI Disability World Cycling Championships here in Aigle (Switzerland), Great Britain is on top of the Medal table with a total of 7 medals, 6 Gold and 1 Bronze, ahead of countries such as Germany (2nd) and Australia (3rd). Today has been even more fantastic than day 1 with no less than four Gold and a Bronze to make it a memorable performance from this Great Britain Team.
The Medals winner for GB today were Gold for Darren Kenny, Sarah Bailey, Jody Cundy, Aileen McGlynn and Ellen Hunter plus a Bronze for Mark Bristow. Considering the team is smaller than many, to be leading the Medal table is not only a great testament to the quality of our riders but also the support they get from the GB Cycling team and its World Class support staff. >Go there
TRACK DAY 1
Riders in the Great Britain Cycling team have yet again done their country proud by not only setting three World Records today but also stepping up to receive Gold medals and Rainbow jerseys. They were the first ever Paralympic cyclists to be presented with the 'stripes', they being GB's Anthony Kappes and Barney Storey watched by the other World record breaker of the day, Sarah Bailey. Then, a few minutes later, Darren Kenny, the third of the British World record breakers, stepped up on to the podium to be presented with his Rainbow jersey and Gold medal. It had been quite a day, an up and down one for the British, glory for some and bitter disappointment for others. : >Go there
