Under 23 Mens Keirin

Despite a crash which was quite spectacular, Matt Crampton walked away from it and into the final of the Men's Keirin where he was fourth.

Final
Matt started the final event well bandaged and pinned together and the early laps was positioned near the back of the string behind the derny. When the derny pulled off and the push for position began, Matt was at the back on the outside of the line and it wasn't long before he sprung into action and went around the group to be in third position on the final lap. In the final push for the line though, with all the riders across the track in a line, Matt was just edged out of a medal position.

Round 2
First run of the second round and Matt Crampton was lying third wheel for most of it. Then, when the charge for position came after the derny pulled off for the final two laps, Matt found himself at the back. Leading the pack was the German Levy from Gregor Bauge with the Greek rider coming out the outside. Matt meanwhile was travelling now at speed, pulling up to the leaders as they came into the home straight and disaster when a fall took him out. You can see from the pictures from what happened and at the end of it, Matt walked away whilst the Greek rider was taken away on a stretcher and despite French protests, Bauge dq'd.

Iain Dyer attempts to unclip Matt whilst first aid GB's Natalie Lejune check toi make sure he is okay. Matt is however a hardy soul and despite making a hole in the fence and getting some splinters in some rather sensitive places, he did however get up and get himself ready to contents the rerun with a new bike after being the first rider to break a set of the forks used on the Teams SI bikes.

Matt and Max Levy take the top two spots in the round 2 heat.

Round 1
Representing GB in this was Matthew Crampton who drew pole position and pulled in behind the derny for the opening few laps as the pace continued to build whilst at the back, Tim Veldt could be seen waiting for his moment.

As the derny pulled away, the charge began and the Spanish rider started his run pulling alongside Matt who was determined to hold his place in the line and not get swamped. As they came into the next bend, Matt started to pull away as the Spanish rider dropped back onto his wheel with Veldt ominously starting his charge.

Around the outside, Veldt started to gain on Matt whilst the Danish rider used the cote d'zur to get inside Matt to no avail as the GB rider crossed the line first just ahead of Veldt.
