Thanks to Jason Kenny, the Great Britain Cycling Team added another Gold medal to its tally today to make it at least one Gold for every day of the championship. The Gold came in the Men's Junior Keirin when he made it look easy.
That was the only medal but there were other events where we were unlucky not to get more and to top off a great week for the Team, they won Best Nation for Juniors, doing what no other country has done before and score in every event. So the final word must go to the riders and staff of Team GB - Well done one and all!
Dave Brailsford, GB Cycling Team Performance Director: "I don't think we have ever won this team award where we got points down to 10th place and it demonstrates the strength in depth and breadth across the disciplines."
"Proof of this can be found in the win we have for best nation (Juniors) where we are the first country to score in every event which is extremely pleasing. I think it is testament to the great work the coaches are doing in the Olympic Development Programme and the Talent Team below that. This level of success bodes well for the future and 2012."
"Although the current programs have only been in place for a short space of time, and before that we did have a little activity in Talent Team, we have learnt a lot of lessons and are continuing to do so. We are not scared of trying knew methods and putting in place new structures to get the best out of the riders and give them the best possible chance to perform. This is after all about the riders and giving them that chance and not about us."
