European Track Championships
Mens Kilometre
After a successful ride in Austria recently, Matt Crampton decided to give the Kilo a go at the Europeans and as he lay on the mat in the pit, legless and not in a great state to chat, he was starting to regret the decision that saw him give so much for so little as he finished 5th with a 1.03.192 and out of the medals. It was a great ride by the young British rider and we can expect to see him challenging for medals in the other events.
Matt Crampton "It's a big chunk off my personal best, seven tenths but its a big effort for fifth place! There are some good riders here like Tim (Veldt), Levy and Pervis so I have to be happy with that. I did a kilo in Vienna which was a bit of a training thing and it went well so I thought I'll do that at the Europeans and been dreading it for the last week. I am getting a good idea now though of how to go fast and to hang on to it and something to build on it. It helps me get that start line experience for the Team Sprint."
