Wales' own Jody Cundy, right, is expected to be at Newport

National squads from the Southern hemisphere, namely Australia and New Zealand, along with the might of the USA will take on European teams from Germany, Ireland and Great Britain in one of the final International competitions before the Paralympics in Beijing this September.

The event is set to host no fewer than 6 World Champions, who jointly hold between them over 30 Paralympic Medals and 5 World Records.

Many of the athletes will be using this year's Grand Prix as a crucial part of their preparations for the Beijing Paralympic Games. Many riders will be looking to improve on their personal bests and in some cases impress the selectors and book there places on the plane to China in September.

Grand Prix organiser Neil Smith commented, "This is our 3rd Year of the "Grand Prix of Wales" and every year we increase the International Squads coming to the event. It is great for Newport, Wales and more importantly the development of disability cycling across the Principality".

The event on Monday 12th May, starts at 5pm with an evening of top International racing. Entry is free, so come along to the Wales National Velodrome and see some of the best in the World battle for glory!
