British Cycling Cyclo-Cross Commission

 

The British Cycling Cyclo-Cross Commission oversees the organisation of cyclo-cross in Britain, and is co-ordinated by British Cycling's Cyclo-Cross Competition Administrator.  The Commission addresses a wide variety of issues, including national and regional level competition, technical regulations, event standards, officials' training and international racing.

The Commission is made up of a number of individuals experienced in the running and development of cyclo-cross. The line-up of the Commission is elected annually by the Cyclo-Cross Conference, and one member is elected by fellow Commission members to act as Chairman for the purposes of meeting administration.

Current Commission Members:

Ian Poole (Chairman)
Club/team: Private Member

Lives in: Stowmarket, Suffolk.

Background: Rode his first cyclo-cross in 1970 and has regularly organised cyclo-cross events since 1974.  Former chairman of Eastern Cyclo-Cross and of Mildenhall Cycling Rally organising committee.

 

 

Martin Eadon
Club/team: Hargroves Cycles

Lives in: Skipton, North Yorkshire.

Background: Active cyclist since 1972 and former schoolboy and veteran national cyclo-cross champion.  Prodigious event promoter, including several rounds of the National Trophy.  Vastly experienced coach, and former international team manager.

 

 

Ben Eedy

Club/team: South Pennine RC
Lives in: Mickleover, near Derby

Background: Joined Commission in February 2008.  A regular regional and national rider and a national cyclo-cross commissaire.

 

 

 

 

Chris Gooch
Club/team: Private Member

Lives in: Holton-St. Mary, near Colchester, Essex
Background: Started racing at the age of 11 and was senior national cycle speedway champion back in 1966, adding the cyclo-cross vets 50+ title 35 years later.  Active official of Eastern Cyclo-Cross and represents cyclo-cross on the BC Commissaires & Referees Commission.

 

 

 

Peter Hargroves

Club/team: Hargroves Cycles

Lives in: Southampton

Background: South coast bike shop supremo and a regular competitor at regional and national competition since the 1970s.  Has served as mechanic to the GB national cyclo-cross team at World Championships and other major races since 1990. 

 

 

 

Kelvin Hoy

Club/team: Archer RC

Lives in: London

Background: London based New Zealander, an experienced mountain bike and cyclo-cross commissaire, and active member of the London Cyclo-Cross League Committee.

 

 

Pete Mooney

Club/team: Rugby Velo

Lives in: Rugby, Warwickshire
Background: vastly experienced organiser of national cyclo-cross and circuit events and former BC West Midlands Regional Competition Administrator.  Joined the Commission in February 2008.

 

Liz Slater

Club/team: Dambusters

Lives in: Newbridge-On-Wye

Background: Welsh Cycling cyclo-cross co-ordinator who has overseen the growth in Welsh cyclo-cross in recent years.  Joined the Commission in February 2008.
