Hempton Cross/Eastern League Round 9

The Eastern Cyclo-Cross League made its way to deepest Norfolk and the town of Fakenham for the 9th round of the 2008-9 series. Ben Roach took the main race by the scruff of the neck, riding clear to win by well over a minute from Phil Cooper, who was in turn over two minutes up on thid-placed Ian Newby. First Junior home was Matt Cook, in 6th place.

In the Vets' category, things were a good deal closer, with Mick bell just holding off Gavin Rumbles by a wafer thin 11 seconds at the finish, with Clive Ling only just over half a minute further back. Geoff bores was the first over-50 home, in 7th and Rachel Moss was the leading woman competitor, in 23rd.

James Jackson took the Under-12 race from Sophie Holmes, whilst Hugo Robinson was the Youth race winner, a huge four and a half minutes clear of the rest of the field, in a race which only lasted 27 minutes!
