Veteran Steve Knight (pictured above left) won the Senior race at the penultimate event of the West Midlands 'Cross series quite convincingly with several of the major series contenders not riding. There was a good ride from Darren Atkins too, on a relatively dry course, the Coventry RC rider finishing less than a minute down. Peter Banham (Wyre Forest) was the only rider able to stick with Atkins and Knight early in the race but was unlucky to break his chain mid way through. Fortunately he borrowed a spectator's bike to complete the course.

The huge under-12 field was brought home by Halesowen's Jack Ravenscroft, closely followed by Danny Fox and first girl Angela Eggleton. Talented Juniors Tom Payton and Ben Roach had a tough battle at the front of the Vet/Junor/Women race, with Payton coming out on top at the end of just over 45mins of racing. The first vet home was Yorkshire visitor Matt Denby, with Shawn Hammond and Duncan Walmsley close on his heels. Welland Valley CC rider Lisa Parsons was the first woman home at one lap down.

Luke Grivell-Mellor, who has had an excellent season, took the Youth race from Edward Gill with Joshua Papworth third.
A speedy under-12 rider going for it
