It wasn't a day for the faint-hearted
Saturday 18th November 2007 saw a 'Cross event at Stanmer Park, Brighton, jointly promoted by Brighton Excelsior CC and VC Jubilee youth development club. Sally Page was the promoter for this event, and it was her first. It was a freeeeeezzzzzing windy day, luckily rain stayed off the youth races, but came half way through the adults, which made conditions pretty tricky. Luckily and kindly VC Jubilee parents and volunteers had a well stocked refreshment area, and all the bacon butties, home made cakes, and drinks went quickly!
It was great to see so many youths competing on the quite challenging course set for them too not helped by the conditions.
Many thanks to The Bike Store in Worthing for the donation of youth prizes, and other traders at the London Cycle Show for their prize donations. And for Sussex Medical Services provision of first aid cover.
And many thanks to the Brighton Excelsior CC marshalls and other VC Jubilee parents/volunteers who supported on the day, to make it a success. And many thanks to the riders for the positive feedback to the organisation of the event.
