Great Britain squads for "Ashes" series announced

Team managers Dave Murphy (senior) and Ivan Pike (junior) have announced their squads to contest the Australia v Great Britain test match series in Australia in February 2009.

The senior squad, led by three times national champion Lee Aris, also sees the return to British Lions colours of the Southampton pair of Gavin Wheeler and Shaun Woodhouse. The duo were unable to travel to the last series in Australia in 2005, but have declared themselves available for the forthcoming tour, although Woodhouse, who raced sparingly in 2007, has been asked to prove his form and commitment by manager Murphy. The squad also includes a number of younger riders, including Jonathan Birks, Lewis Osborne and Daniel Pike.

There will be a three test series for both senior and junior teams, leading up to the World junior and senior individual championships, which will also be staged in Australia next year.
