London's VC de Londres cycling club have a busy programme of activities planned for 2008. Training dates and times have been finalised and the racing schedule is coming together with a few final additions still to come. The programme is shown on www.vcl.org.uk\hhcal.htm
The mainstay of the programme is again the Saturday morning track training sessions, open to all cyclists whether or not a member of a club. Youth sessions continue on Friday nights, but are revamped for 2008, and derny and road bike training sessions continue. The Herne Hill Promotor's Association will again promote Track league on Mondays and Wednesdays and there will be a number of open racing events kicking off with the international Good Friday track meeting at its traditional home of Herne Hill in South East London.
Following the success of the Herne Hill Series and the London League cyclo-cross events run at the velodrome, 2008 will see a new off-road series running on three consecutive Wednesday nights after the track league season has finished. The events will be run under British Cycling rules on 27 August, 3 and 10 September and will be open to youth and adult riders, aimed at both cyclo-cross riders wanting to get some practice in before the start of their season and the 'Beastway mountain bikers' looking to extend their season a little longer.
