BMX Event Support Downloads

On this page you will find a range of event support information in the form of downloads of generic documents. These are aimed primarily at event organisers/promoters. All are Microsoft Word documents of 150kb or less, except the Registration Card and promo leaflet, which are 1.5mb.

leafletBMX Club Promotion Leaflet

This leaflet is held in stock at British Cycling and is an aid to clubs who wish to promote their club within Schools, Clubs, Galas etc. There's a blank space on the back of each leaflet, which allows for relevant contact details or a website address. Any club/event organiser wishing to print copies of this can also do so by downloading the attachment Download (1.5mb pdf) >>>>

BMX Registration Card: Download (1.5mb) >>>>
This attachment is for reproducing the registration cards used at nationals. The colours on each card are for ensuring that Cruiser, Female, Experts and Elite cards are easily recognisable from each other.

Event Registration Form: Download >>>>

This form must be used when registering BMX events with British Cycling. If a form isn't submitted to British Cycling, then the event is not insured. The form is split into 3 sections:

  • Club details. Secretaries name, promoting club and location of the event.
  • Event Details. Date, title of event or series of events, cost to race, registration times, race times and what categories there are to enter. Don't worry if you don't run all the categories due to low numbers, but please state the categories you intend to run.
  • Organisers Details. Someone has to be in charge for all events. Please ensure the correct details are used.

How to Run a Race: Download >>>>
This document details all the basics in putting on BMX races. Not everything will be relevant to your event, as local land regulations will differ.

Moto sheets:
Get your own Moto sheets produced or you can buy the completed versions from BC at a cost of £17.50 per 100 copies.

  • The first sheet is white and is the copy the results are recorded on.  Download >>>>
  • The next bit is produced in triplicate in yellow, blue and pink on carbon paper. Download >>>>

National Event Guidelines: Download >>>>
Clubs or organisers that host national events are given guidelines to follow ensuring a consistent standard is maintained. If you are thinking of hosting a major event, then these are the guidelines you should follow.

Start Gate Suppliers: Download >>>>
Start gates come in various forms and the attached list details those who are recognised by British Cycling. A fall forward start gate can be a complete one-piece system that is steel framed with a mesh platform. It could also just be the fall forward section using chequer plating to grip the front wheel.

The BMX Club Promotion Pack: Download >>>>
This document gives everyone interested in setting up a club the basics to move forward and establish a committee. There's also information on dealing with local authorities, advertising events, establishing a consistent club, looking for appropriate land and what a BMX track should consist of.

Track Builders: Download >>>>
Expect this list to grow as BMX becomes more established. To keep costs down, some track builders may only work within a commuting distance from their home. Some councils and funding bodies will insist on a competitive tendering process, which require a minimum of 3 quotes. If this is the case, then local contractors may have to be used. As local contractors become more experienced, the ones that prove they can build competently will be added to the list. When using inexperienced contractors, always have someone experienced in track building to oversee the project.
