Round 2 of the Preston Pirates Summer Series saw the weather-gods smile on the Pirates and first out the gate were the 6 and unders.

The two Matthews, Gilston and Baptista fought tooth-and-nail in this one with Baptista coming out on top with Keon Smith in third and Brandon Williams not far behind in fourth. The 7 Boys saw national 6 and unders leader Alex Brookes riding up an age group and he still made light work of it with Joel Clarke in second and Preston's national rider Harvey Howard in third.

Next on the gate were the 8 boys with a full line up of national riders so the racing was going to be close. British Champion Ross Cullen came out on top with runner up spot being contested between Jacob Watkinson, Joe Parr, Sam Hutchings and Ryan Brookes (another rider riding up an age group). Jacob eventually took second from Joe.

Shay Casey won the 9 Boys and showed no ill effects from his fall at the National Series the weekend before. Preston are attracting some good national riders all the way through the age groups and the girls are no exception. The 7-9 Girls was contested between Kim Baptista and Eleana Stafford with Kim taking the honours but with Eleanor moving into the national series soon she will be one to watch.

The fast gating Emily Hutchings took the 10-12 Girls with another Preston national rider Leah Clinch in runner up spot with Ellie Howard showing some good moves for third. 13-15 Girls saw Abi Brookes take the win and will be looking to take that form into the national series. Yvonne Williams won the 25+ Girls with her monster gearing on.

In the 7-9s Liam and Jack Morgan fought for the winner's spot with Jack just taking it with Aaron in third. Novice 12-14 had some impressive riders in it and was won by Callum Rodriguez followed by Sam Richardson. The 11-12 Experts was like a training day for some of the riders with Paddy Sharrock taking it from George Hawker, Liam Greenwood and Callum Worrall. Cruiser Bruiser was the race to watch with moves being made and corners cut all the way round.

Preston's very own 'PRO J' Francis took three race wins and that was after a wake up call from Scott Casey who took the first race, with Matty Glynn in the mix as well. The final race of the day was 16+ and what a line up it was with Elite riders, junior men and national title holders all on the gate. But it was Elite rider Cal Strickland that took it from potential ODP rider Kyle Evans. The next round is on June 30th with all riders welcome.
