East Kent BMX Club
Sunday 30 March 2008
Report: Alan Humphrey
Results: Regional Round 1
Sunday 30th March saw the first round of the SOUTH Region BMX Summer Series held at Dagenham, east London, with eleven riders representing East Kent BMX Club out of the 150+ entries. Herne Bay brothers Matthew and Daniel Pullen were there with Matthew just missing out on an A Final placing in the Expert 8 year olds. Older brother Dan, riding up with the Expert 16 year olds, was in devastating form winning all three motos and then storming the A Final for victory in that too. In Expert 11 year olds Owen Baxter best placed fourth to finish 7th overall in his group. In Junior Male Pete Lavender took two first places and two seconds to finish 2nd overall in a toughly fought group.

East Kent BMX Club co-founder Russ Parsons from Herne was riding in the always entertaining Masters Class for riders over age 30 and dominated the motos and the A Final to give him top points from the day. Roy Binks had a third and a couple of fourths in his motos but fell back to 8th in the A Final. In the Cruiser Class young James Humphrey was riding against much older opposition in a combined group but still placed second in one of his motos and finshed 5th in the A Final. The best supported group was the ?old men? of BMX in the Cruiser 40+ category which saw Darren Boughton net a moto win, two seconds and 3rd in the A Final whilst Lee Allen had a creditable moto second and 4th in the B Final. David Glendower and Tim O?Regan also made the B Final. The Old Skool class saw Simon Barnes riding well to a moto win and 3rd in the A Final.
Overall a good start for the Club in this eight round Summer Series that sees the riders heading to Andover on 13th April and then East Kent hosts Round 3 on 11th May. Details of the Club and what BMX Racing is all about can be found at www.eastkentbmx.co.uk
