Regional Development Manager
East Midlands
Salary Band 4 (23k to 30k per annum) + Car
British Cycling is the internationally recognised governing body for cycling in the UK. It is also one of the leading governing bodies across all sport in the UK and our continued growth is built on the successful delivery of results at elite level and our focus on developing the grass roots of our sport.
With the London 2012 Olympics only three years away, British Cycling will be an exciting place to work, with the organisation at the centre of a once-in-a-generation opportunity to develop the sport. To support our growth, we are looking for a full time Regional Development Manager in the East Midlands.
The Regional Development Manager will perform a lead role in coordinating and implementing all of the elements of our plans in the East Midlands region. This encompasses working with clubs to develop a strong infrastructure of school and community based opportunities, working with coaches and volunteers to deliver education courses and events, implementing the local facilities plan and managing two Go-Ride Coaches in order to deliver the Go-Ride programme for young people.
To succeed in this role you will need to have a background in sports development, ideally with a degree in a relevant subject, together with a recognised coaching qualification. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a prerequisite, as are sound management and organisational skills. Prior experience of working with sports councils and the ability to develop strong relationships with our clubs and volunteer boards in the region will be key to your success. Knowledge of the local and national frameworks for sport would be a distinct advantage.
All of our permanent employees are automatically awarded Gold Membership of British Cycling. Our hours of work are 37.5 per week, which will incorporate weekend and evening work. Membership of the pension scheme is offered on completion of six months service. British Cycling operates a salary sacrifice Childcare Voucher Scheme. This post requires the successful candidate to undergo an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
