British Cycling is going through a major expansion programme to deliver further success at the elite level, grow participation and the grass roots development of the sport. We have set ambitious targets for 2012 and we have new funding and media partnerships with Sport England and Sky to help us deliver this with, and on behalf of our members.
We are shaping up our plans for growing the sport and our membership with an emphasis on sustaining this growth beyond 2012. We are introducing a new Department and related grass roots functions to help achieve a significant increase in participation within cycle sport, recreational and utility cycling by 2012. We currently have an opportunity for a professional, appropriately experienced individual to join the Recreation and Partnerships team in the above role.
The primary role is to
• Lead and co-ordinate the development and implementation of a strategic plan for cycling in targeted areas for growth alongside other British Cycling staff, key investment partners and the cycling fraternity.
• Ensure good project management of the plan and the delivery of priority projects, events and programmes that fulfil British Cycling/partner objectives and targets.
• Manage and support relevant volunteers, Ride Leaders, Regional Committees, staff and partners to deliver agreed objectives/projects and continually improve delivery.
The person will have
• Significant experience of managing projects related to participation programmes and events, with a track record in delivering targets
• Significant experience of working with different organisations at strategic and operational levels to resource and deliver successful partnerships and projects
• Excellent strategic planning skills – well organised, able to prioritise work and set targets for self and others
• Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating an ability to communicate at a senior level with, and relate to, a wide range of people and organisations
• Ability to manage complex issues and problem solve, converting objectives into action

All of our permanent employees are provided with the Gold Membership of British Cycling. Our hours of work are 37.5 per week, although weekend and evening work will sometimes be required.
