National Development Manager
Based in Manchester
Senior Position - Salary Negotiable + Car

British Cycling is the internationally recognised governing body for cycling in the UK. It is also one of the leading governing bodies across all sport in the UK and our continued growth is built on the successful delivery of results at elite level and our focus on developing the grass roots of our sport.

With the London 2012 Olympics only three years away, British Cycling will be an exciting place to work, with the organisation at the centre of a once-in-a-generation opportunity to develop the sport.  To support our growth, we are looking for a full time National Development Manager.

The National Development Manager will coordinate and support the delivery of the National Development Programme through the effective management of the Regional Teams (comprising Regional Development Managers and Go-Ride Coaches).  This encompasses the management of 11 Regional Development Managers, working with these managers to develop, establish, implement and monitor Regional Development Plans, contributing to the ongoing strategic development of the Go-Ride programme.  You will also develop strong partnerships at regional, county, national and UK level to facilitate and support the regional delivery of the Go-Ride programme.

To succeed in this role you will need to have at least three years management experience in the sport sector and in a strong background in sports development, ideally with a degree in a relevant subject.  Excellent planning, organisational and project management skills are vital, as are the ability to motivate, manage and lead others. Sound interpersonal and communication skills are also important.  Knowledge of the strategic objectives of both national and regional sport structures and policies in the UK would be a distinct advantage, as would knowledge of British Cycling’s UK Wide One Stop Plan and initiatives.

All of our permanent employees are automatically awarded Gold Membership of British Cycling. Our hours of work are 37.5 per week, which will incorporate weekend and evening work. Membership of the pension scheme is offered on completion of six months service.  British Cycling operates a salary sacrifice Childcare Voucher Scheme.  Free parking is available to all staff at the National Cycling Centre. This post requires the successful candidate to undergo an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
