Cycle Sport & Events Project Officer

Up to £28k p.a. + benefits (depending on exp)
With the London 2012 Olympics now only 4 years away, British Cycling will be an exciting place to work, with the organisation at the centre of a once-in-a-generation opportunity to develop the sport. British Cycling’s key to success is the delivery of its One Stop Plan, through employees who can work within our sport at all levels. Our organisation is dynamic and growing. Due to the rate of growth, we are now looking for a professional, enthusiastic individual to join our Cycle Sport and Membership Department.
Our ambitious plans to grow the sport and pastime of cycling are now being realised and, in order to ensure we have the best support structures in place, we are now looking for a Cycle Sport and Events Project Officer to join our team. We have a range of high profile projects which require dedicated project management in areas such as racing on the public highway, volunteer support programmes, event support services, IT developments and providing support to the Cycle Sport and Events Project Manager to manage international events across all disciplines.
You must be comfortable with managing multiple projects, well organised, pay attention to detail and able to work to tight deadlines. The success of the projects and events will depend on your ability to create excellent relationships with stakeholders internally and externally to the organisation. The varied nature of the projects and events demands strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills and previous experience of leading meetings with external stakeholders. Underpinning these abilities, a thorough understanding of cycle sport would be very advantageous. Reporting directly to the Cycle Sport and Events Project Manager, you must have relevant previous experience and enjoy working as part of a small team.
All of our permanent employees are automatically awarded Gold Membership of British Cycling. Our hours of work are 37.5 per week, although weekend and evening work will sometimes be required. Membership of the pension scheme is offered on completion of 6 months service. British Cycling operates a salary sacrifice Childcare Voucher Scheme and Cycle to Work Scheme. Free parking is available to all staff at the National Cycling Centre.
British Cycling welcomes applications from all sections of the community. For an application pack, please contact our Human Resources team on 0161 274 2037, email humanresources@britishcycling.org.uk or write to British Cycling, National Cycling Centre, Stuart St, Manchester M11 4DQ.
