Ride Leaders Required
News Posted: 27 May 2009; Updated 4 June 2009
British Cycling, in partnership with Sky, is developing a new and exciting Recreation programme to be implemented throughout this summer, and we are looking to recruit and train British Cycling members to assist in the delivery of this programme as Ride Leaders and Assistant Ride Leaders.
The programme will see a series of led rides taking place every Sunday throughout the summer from July 1st to October 31st in the following cities and surrounding areas:
London
Leicester
Manchester
Glasgow
Preston
To assist with this programme, we are looking for approximately 300 people to lead these rides and to therefore play a central part in developing cycling.
Qualification & Training
All Ride Leaders must have a valid first aid qualification and could already be qualified Coaches, Bikeability Instructors or members of clubs who have experience of leading bike rides. Anyone keen to get involved that does not have a valid first aid qualification can apply to become an Assistant Ride Leader.
We will send all Rider Leaders and Assistant Ride Leaders on a day's training course to make sure they have all the skills to ensure people get out on their bikes and enjoy themselves as much as possible in a safe environment (and to ensure their own cycling skills are in top top condition). All Ride Leaders and Assistant Ride Leaders will also receive a branded jersey and will be paid for any rides that they lead. In addition, Rider Leaders or Assistant Ride Leaders who are not already British Cycling members will recieve free Everyday Cycling membership for free for a year.
