We've received the terrible news of the death of Stuart Holdsworth following an incident whilst cycling on the A65, near Settle in North Yorkshire on Thursday morning.
Stuart, who was 64 years old, was a prolific organiser of races and non-competitive cycling events, including the famous The Woolmark GP, which took place in the Bradford area in the seventies and eighties. In recent seasons he was perhaps best known as the organiser of the Etape du Dales Cyclosportive event.
As recently as last weekend, he was heavily involved in the cycling festival which took over his home town of Settle. He was also a dynamic and industrious member of the 'Dave Rayner Fund'.

In his twenties, he was a talented rider whose career might have earned him representative honours had he not suffered a period of ill-health.
British Cycling sends its deepest condolences to his family and friends.
