BC President Brian Cookson has welcomed the announcement made by UCI President Pat McQuaid regarding progress in resolving the long-running dispute between the UCI and Tour de France organisers ASO plus organisers of other major events;
"This sounds like real progress and I can say that we, like all the national federations, are very anxious to see the full and final resolution of this damaging dispute. Clearly there are still some outstanding issues, and we need to see these fully worked through before we can say that the dispute is over. In my view, the week of the World Road Championships and the UCI Congress at Varese in September will be crucial. I really want to see this matter finally put behind us - we must be able to work together as a sport from that point onwards".
