British Cycling Up for Major Sports Industry Award
News Posted: 28 Feb 2008
British Cycling has made the shortlist for the highly regarded Sport Industry Awards 2008 in the category "Best Promotion of a Sport by a Governing Body" for the British Cyclosportive event.
The organisation finds itelf up against tough opposition including big players such as the NFL, ATP, RFU and the FA.
The British Cyclosportive brought together over 4000 cyclists for a unique day of cycling over the route of the first stage of the 2007 Tour de France, from London out through Kent to Cantebury.
The event was promoted jointly though the organisation's two websites - www.britishcycling.org.uk and www.everydaycycling.com (the latter handled online entry for the event, selling out in less than 24 hours) and with the support of Perfect Motion, the Midlands based sports marketing company.
The Awards ceremony is on 1st May and we'll let you know how the organisation gets on! For more on the awards, visit http://www.sportindustry.biz/awards/
