- WSCA Cyclo-cross events
- Saturday 8th October - Welsh Schools Championships at Penlan Sports Fields, Brecon School year ages up to year 13
- Start time will be 1pm for year 3 and below and each race will follow on.
- Entries by Tuesday 4th October
- Sunday 9th October - Welsh League, Round 4 at Penlan Sports Fields,
- Brecon start times are:
- Under 12's - 10:45
- Under 14's/ 16's Novice women - 11:15
- Senior Junior Vet's Women- 12:15
- Entry is available on the line.

- Junior Programme Testing Day
- There will be a testing day on the 23rd October at the Newport Velodrome. Riders will do a supervised road ride in the morning followed by track tests in the afternoon.
- These tests will comprise a flying 3km on standard bike on 91.8 gear and flying 500m. Track sprinters will perform a flying 200m and standing 500m.
- All junior riders who wish to be considered for the junior programme in 2006 should register for this day by emailing Stuart MacDonald on stuart.macdonaldwcu@tiscali.co.uk with your contact details and a short summary of your race results to date
- Magnus to attempt Derny Hour paced record at Newport
- Welsh based professional rider Magnus Backstedt has announced that he is to attempt to beat the current "World one hour derny paced" record at the Wales National Velodrome on Saturday 29th October 2005.
- Magnus' promotional team have revealed that the record attempt will form part of an evenings entertainment when a full programme of racing is planned that will boast some top names from the World of Cycling.

- AGM Postponed until November
- Regretfully the Board of Welsh Cycling have had to take the decision to postpone the Welsh Cycling AGM planned for Saturday October 8th due to a limited response from the Welsh Cycling clubs.
- The AGM has now been postponed until November and therefore the date will be advised later.
- Chief Executive Peter Sommers stated "It is disappointing that we have had to take this decision and I urge the clubs to ensure that they send delegates to the re-arranged AGM. It is imperative that Welsh Cycling holds an AGM this year so that the changes agreed at the EGM earlier this year can be fully implemented.
- Welsh Cycling Dinner also postponed
- The planned Welsh Cycling dinner for the evening of Saturday October 8th has also been postponed due to a lack of attendees. The Board would like to thank all those members who supported the event and all cheques already received will be returned accordingly.
- Newport City Council Track Leagues
- The Newport City Winter Track League starts on the 20th September and will run every Tuesday night. Start at 18.30 pm with a 15 minute warm-up - racing will then commence from 18.45 until approx. 9.30 pm. Riders must have British Cycling membership, hold a current racing license and Track Accreditation.
- Categories: Cat E, 1, 2, J, V, L, Youth A
- Pricing: League membership (if not already a member of NCTL) over 18's �10.00, under 18's �5.00.
- Weekly race fee of seniors �7.50, Under 18's �4.00
- Newport City "Improvers" Track League (Monday's)
- Every Monday night from 19th September there will be track racing at the Velodrome with an improvers league. This is for novice riders ONLY!
- Warm up from 6pm with first race at 6.15pm until 8pm.
- The races will be split into three groups.
- Group C - Seniors and Youth A
- Group B - Youth Advanced
- Group A - Youth Novice
- This league will act as a progression for the Tuesday Track League for Seniors and Youth A riders. Coaches will inform riders of their need to progress.

- Worlds Silver for Nicole
- Congratulations to Nicole Cooke on her Silver medal performance at the World Road Race Championships in Madrid at the weekend. Cooke was narrowly out-sprinted by Regina Schleicher on the line, the German winner benefiting from a powerful lead-out by her team. - Thomas Team Role at World Championships.
- First year Under 23 rider Geraint Thomas dutifully performed his domestique role at the World Road Race Championships in Madrid, working tirelessly for team-mate Mark Cavendish who finished in the top fifteen. - Stevens Sprints to Abergavenny Win
- Visiting ex-patriot Nick Stevens Cardiff JIF) made a successful return to racing at Abergavenny Leisure Centre this weekend, holding off Ben Dale (Climb on Bikes) to claim victory at the line. The pair had escaped early on the course used for last seasons National Championships with Dales club mate Andrew Baum in attendance, with each rider taking turns to attack. Baum put in a huge effort after four laps to distance the Cardiff rider, but Stevens countered which saw Baum loose contact and ride solo to third ahead of Anthony O�Boyle (Newport Phoenix) and Ian Bendall (Bynea CC).
- In the Youth Host Club Rider Gareth James repeated his first round victory over Peter Merridew ( Flyers), with James�s club mate and newcomer to the sport Rhys Powell claiming third. Kimberley Richards made the long trip from St David's worthwhile with victory over Amelia Ratcliffe (Climb on Bikes) and Manon Morgan (Maindy Flyers).
