- Stage Two Tests for the 2006 Welsh Cycling Talent Team
- Welsh Cycling are performing Talent Team testing for existing club cyclists on Saturday 1st October at Wales National Velodrome, Newport.
- Stage two Talent Team tests are being performed on static bikes with SRM power recording equipment are used to determine riders potential power outputs. Stage one testing has been carried out in Welsh schools over the last few months.
- The tests are open to:
- boys born 1990 /1991.
- girls born 1990 / 1991 / 1992.
- If any eligible existing club cyclists would like to take part then please contact Welsh Cycling to book a testing slot - the session will last no longer than one hour. For further details and how to book a slot please call: 01633 670 540, between 8am & 4pm.
- Stage two testing will be also be performed at Plas Menai Watersports centre in the near future - please refer back to this Web site for dates.
- Tesco Vouchers for Schools and CLubs
- Tesco are currently running their vouchers scheme for schools and clubs to benefit from sports equipment and training sessions. Local Go-Ride club Newport Velo are already registered for the scheme, with many of our schools cycling clubs already frantically collecting vouchers.
- If any members have any vouchers they would like to donate then please send to WCU Development Officer Ian Jenkins at the office address:

- Newport Track League
- Every Monday night from next week there will be track racing at the velodrome with an improvers league.
- Warm up from 6pm with first race at 6.15pm until 8pm.
- The races will be split into three groups.
- Group C - Seniors and Youth A
- Group B - Youth Advanced
- Group A - Youth Novice
- A Race program will be alternated on a fortnightly program as to allow some variety and will act as a progression for the Tuesday Track League for Seniors and Youth A riders.
- Cost is �4 Seniors, �2 Youth.
- Appleby wins King of the Mountains in British Cycling's Tour of the South
- Nineteen year old Welshman Dale Appleby won the King of the Mountains Jersey in last weeks Tour of the South. Dale achieved the feat in some style, scoring nearly double the amount of points of his nearest rival.
- The result propelled Dale to ninth overall in the general classification. More details can be found HERE (External Link).
