Sander So Close to Cwmcarn Win
Ross Sander missed retaining his position as 2004 winner at the Cwmcarn 3-Day Stage race by just 6 seconds behind Gavin Pardoe (Stourbridge CC). The inexperience of the Welsh Junior National Team showed after a succession of top three finishes among the stages, including excellent win's for Matt Rowe on stage three at Gwernyfed and Ross Sander on stage four. However, Sander went into the final stage with a 30 second deficit on Pardoe for the overall honours, a feat he nearly achieved with a powerful attack on the final climb to claim a 15 second time bonus at the line, but the overall proved out of reach. A full report from the event including photos can be found on the organising clubs website by clicking HERE (External Link)
Winn Twelfth at Rubens Granitier Breton
Julian Winn finished highest of the Welsh National Senior Team at this years Rubens Granitier after a succession of top twenty stage finishes at climb back into contention after the disastrous rain - hit prologue. Winn was ably supported by the team mates Robert Partridge and Jamie Norfolk, with Paul Sheppard climbing off on the penultimate stage having given his all for the team leader. Yanto Barker and David Crowley both had to finish the event early with Barker feeling the after effects of his second stage crash where he broke his handlebars and cracked the frame, and Crowley suffering with his late call up to the event.
