Thomas Recovers at World Championships
Welsh star Geraint Thomas has admitted to being well on the road to recovery after his horrific crash in Sydney (see previous) which saw his spleen removed. The World Junior Scratch Champion has returned to the scene of his junior title success twelve months ago to observe the Team Great Britain efforts at the World Track Championships in Los Angeles. Thomas has given an interview on events over the last few months which can be read on the British Cycling website HERE (External Link)
Rhys Thomas Wins 'White Hope' Sprint
Developing Welsh sprinter Rhys Thomas has won the inaugural 'White Hope' sprint in the Herne Hill Good Friday track meeting. The sprint, formerly won by such notables as Jamie Staffs and Matthew Crampton, saw Thomas progress through the qualifying 'knockout' format after an initial 200m time trial, where he finished second fastest with a time of 12.3 seconds. Thomas went into the final of three riders where he took advantage of his opposition marking each other to sprint beneath on the final banking and claim victory by the narrowest of margins. Congratulations Rhys!
