NEWS FOR WEEK COMMENCING 6th March 2006Youngsters' chance to take the cycling challenge this Easter If you�re aged between 9 and 16 yrs of age and can ride a bike, there�s a cycling session for you this Easter at Wales National Velodrome! Whatever your ability there�ll be a class for you. There�s Mountain Biking around the site, skills tests, mini races and competitions outside. Indoors on the Velodrome there�s sessions for everyone from track beginners taking their first chance to �Attack the Track� and record a time for 1 Lap; through to Premiere Track Sessions with Wales and GB�s Olympic Programme coaches for the very experienced young riders. All riders in Attack the Track sessions receive a personalised �I Attacked the Track� Certificate along with a Velodrome memento recording their lap time. Any young rider who comes along to 3 or more sessions during the holidays will receive a special Go-Ride Challenge Award medal and a goodie bag! Due to a limited amount of places all sessions must be booked in advance. The cycling classes are based at Wales National Velodrome, Newport International Sports Village Newport NP19 4PS. For the outdoor sessions you�ll need to bring your own bike, in good working order, and for the track sessions, we can provide you with a fixed wheel track bike, or you can bring your own if you have one. Track Commissaires Course - Enrolment Open Evening
Due to the number of events now taking place at the Wales National Velodrome and plans for other tracks in Wales, there is an urgent need to recruit and train additional track Commissaires.
Welsh Cycling is planning a course in the Spring and would like to invite interested volunteers along to an open evening on Tuesday 21st March at the Velodrome.
Starting at 7.00 p.m. the evening will include a presentation on the training and role of Commissaires, followed by an opportunity to officiate alongside our existing Commissaires at the weekly track league until 9.00 p.m.
