For the first time the British National Cyclo Cross Championships will be contested at Abergavenny Leisure Centre this weekend. The venue hosted the successful National Trophy Series Final last season, and the promoting Abergavenny Road Club look forward to large crowds supporting the Title event. Winn Cruises to First Title of the Year
Julian Winn cruised to his eighth Welsh Cyclo Cross title at Brecon Sports Centre on Sunday to re-iterate his position as Wales top cyclist. Lee Williams (CC Abergavenny) chassed furiously but could not match the defending Champion, while Steven Roach (Rugby Velo) passed early pace setter Hugo Hocknell (Climb on Bikes RT) to claim third and silver in the Espoirs category behind Williams. Gareth James (Abergavenny RC) took a thrilling sprint for the Youth win while club mate Jessica Allen took the girls and sister Rebecca claimed the Under 14 girls. Peter Merridew (Maindy Flyers) led home the Under 14 boys while Claire Lines took the Women's Senior title with Graham Edwards (Abergavenny RC) leading home the Veterans field for the Over 50's title ahead of Over 40's winner Phil Roach (Rugby Velo).
Sander and Rowe in Rotterdam Three Day
Welsh youngsters Ross Sander and Matt Rowe have been invited to compete for Great Britain in Welsh colours at the Rotterdam Three Day Junior Track meet this weekend. The pairing will contest a variety of endurance events, including the Madison.
