Thomas to Sydney World Cup
British Cycling are sending a 'next generation' team to the Sydney Track World Cup on February 18-20th, including their youngest selection in Geraint Thomas. Thomas will compete in the Team Pursuit with Mark Cavandish, Ed Clancy and Tom White. The selection marks the Cardiff man's second visit to a round of the Track World Cup, after the World Junior Scratch Champion's second place in the senior Scratch event at the opening Moscow round. More details on the Great Britain team can be found HERE (External Link)
Winn Heads to Langkawi
Julian Winn (Pinarello RT) will open his 2005 Road Racing season at the Tour of Langkawi in Malaysia. It will be the fifth time the Welshman has contested the event and this year he competes as part of the Great Britain Team, missing the annual Welsh Team training camp in Majorca. Other teams contesting the event include new ProTour entries Credit Agricole, Discovery Channel, Domina Vacanze, Liberty Seguros and Acqua & Sapone-Adria Mobil. Further details on the GB entry can be found HERE (External Link), while results will be posted as they arrive...
Dampened Welsh Cycling Team Training Camp in Majorca
The Welsh Team annual training camp has been interrupted by snow on what was due to be the culmination of a weeks hard training with two days in the mountains. Instead the riders have avoided the snow-capped peaks to continue training on the coastal routes of the island, yesterday covering a difficult six hours in damp conditions. Upon their return, the riders are due to be tested in the Welsh Institute of Sport sports science lab to check progress and help determine their race programmes for early 2005.
