WEEK BEGINNING JANUARY 10th 2005

National 'Cross Championship
A successful weekends racing saw riders from across the country overcome some horrendous conditions and the increasingly muddy circuit to claim titles at the National title event. Worthy winners included former senior Champion Nick Craig (Scott UK) who gave a master class in riding skills to take his third title. Highest positioned Welsh interest was led home by Nicole Cooke, taking fourth in the Elite Women and Anthony O'Boyle (Newport Phoenix), snatching sixth Junior in his first National event. Full results and photos of the event can be found on the British Cycling website HERE (External Link)
Roach Selected to WCPP
Wales leading off-road rider Steven Roach has been selected to join the British Cycling World Class Performance Plan - with an eye on the 2008 Beijing Olympics Mountain Bike event. Roach will commence his season with a Welsh Cycling training camp in Majorca, before joining the GB team for two early season Mountain Bike races in Cyprus. The young Welshman will then look to selected World Cup events throughout the year in his bid to repeat his 2004 feat of GB representation at the European and World Championships. Welsh Cycling would like to congratulate Steven and look forward to seeing him back in Welsh colours for the 2006 Commonwealth Games!
