Word has reached Welsh Cycling that as a mark of respect for the members of Rhyl Cycling club who lost their lives last Sunday, that cyclists who take to the roads on Sunday 15th January 2006, either on group club runs or on their own, may like to wear black arm bands.
The black band does not need to be ornate, indeed black tape would suffice, and is an opportunity to show that our thoughts are with them at this time. The Welsh National Cycling team, due to compete at the Tour of Siam in Thailand next week, will wear black arm bands during the race as a mark of respect for those killed.
Following the tragic deaths of the four Rhyl Cycling Club members last Sunday, Welsh Cycling has received many messages of condolence from across the World, and we thank everyone for their kind words.
British Cycling have now opened a message of condolence book for anyone wishing to express their feelings following this terrible incident. Messages can be sent by e-mail to: pressoffice@britishcycling.org.uk
The book will then be published on the British Cycling web site: www.britishcycling.org.uk
